- Permanent or provisional medical registration certificate
- Internship completion certificate
- Valid government photo ID
- Date of birth proof
- Passport-size photographs
- Category certificate, if applicable
- PwD certificate, if applicable

How Seat Allotment Works in MCC PG Counselling
MCC allots seats based on four things: your NEET PG rank, the choices you locked, your category, and seat availability. A higher rank does not guarantee your first choice, so build a long and realistic choice list that mixes ambitious, target and safe options. Rank your preferences in the order you truly want them, because the system allots the highest-preference seat you qualify for.
Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling 2026: Institutional Round Scrapped
If you are also considering Maharashtra seats, note a major change. The Maharashtra government notified the
Maharashtra Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission) Rules, 2026 on 5 October 2026 for first-year full-time postgraduate medical and dental courses.
- No institutional-level round. All admissions, including institutional quota and NRI quota seats, now go through the centralised online process run by the State CET Cell.
- Online stray vacancy rounds. Vacant seats will also be filled online by the CET Cell.
- Wider institutional quota eligibility. Candidates with a Maharashtra domicile certificate can apply even if they completed their qualifying degree outside the state. Candidates from other states and foreign medical degree holders can also apply for institutional quota seats in private colleges.
- Registration deadline fixes eligibility. The last date of registration is the cut-off for eligibility. Eligibility gained after that date will not count for the same cycle.
The State CET Cell publishes the schedule and information booklet at
cetcell.mahacet.org.
New Two-Year Ban for PG Seat Blockers in Maharashtra
Seat blocking means holding a seat you never intend to join, so other candidates lose the chance to take it. Under the new Maharashtra rules, a candidate who is allotted a seat in the
final CAP round but does not report or join, leaving the seat vacant, is barred from admission for the
next two years. The same rule already applies to NEET UG (MBBS and BDS) admissions in the state and now extends to PG medical and dental courses.
What this means for you: accept a final-round allotment only if you will actually join. If you are unsure, finish your decision before the final round, not after it.
Seat Blocking and Exit Rules in MCC Counselling
MCC also penalises candidates who do not join an allotted seat, including forfeiting the security deposit and, in some cases, debarment from counselling. Read the exit and forfeiture rules in the MCC information bulletin for each round before you accept a seat. Never submit forged or mismatched documents to hold a seat, because this can lead to cancellation of admission and legal action.
Smart Strategy for NEET PG Counselling 2026
- Decide your priority first: branch, college, location or fees. Write it down before you open the choice-filling page.
- Study last year’s closing ranks for your category and branch, then add a safety margin because competition changes every year.
- Fill many choices. A short list is the most common cause of getting no seat in a round.
- Register early. Avoid the last 24 hours, when the portal is slowest.
- Plan your money. Keep the fee and security deposit ready, especially for deemed universities.
- Track every round. Round 2, Round 3 and the stray vacancy round can still give you a better seat.
