The
Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture
and Technology (MPUAT) Udaipur admission 2026-27
process is one of the most prestigious agricultural
education opportunities in Rajasthan. Established in
1999 and named after the legendary warrior king of
Mewar — Maharana Pratap Singh — this ICAR approved
state agricultural university in Udaipur is consistently
ranked among India’s leading agricultural universities.
Since MPUAT is located in Udaipur — Rajasthan’s
jewel city and a region with rich agricultural,
horticultural and forestry traditions — the university
combines academic excellence with genuine agro-
ecological research relevance.
Furthermore, MPUAT’s NAAC accreditation, UGC
recognition and ICAR affiliation confirm that
B.Sc Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry and
related degrees carry the highest credibility for
agricultural career purposes in India. Since CUET
2026 is one of the primary admission pathways for
MPUAT’s undergraduate programmes, understanding the
CUET cutoff, fee structure, scholarship availability,

About Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture
and Technology — History, Legacy and National
Significance
Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and
Technology (MPUAT) was established in 1999 by the
Government of Rajasthan by carving out agricultural
education and research functions from Rajasthan
Agricultural University (RAU). The university is
named after Maharana Pratap Singh (1540-1597) — the
54th Maharana of Mewar — whose kingdom’s capital
was Chittorgarh and later the Aravalli hillside
strongholds, with Udaipur serving as an important
ceremonial and administrative centre of Mewar. The
Battle of Haldighati (1576) — fought near present-day
Rajsamand district — is the most celebrated episode
of Maharana Pratap’s life, symbolising courage,
independence and self-determination that resonates
deeply in Rajasthani culture.
Since its establishment, MPUAT has grown into a
comprehensive agricultural university with constituent
colleges across southern Rajasthan — including
Rajasthan College of Agriculture Udaipur, College of
Horticulture and Forestry Jhalawar, College of Home
Science Udaipur, College of Technology and Engineering
Udaipur, and multiple Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs)
across the region. Furthermore, the university’s
research stations cover the diverse agro-ecological
zones of Rajasthan — from the arid Thar Desert region
to the tribal Mewar-Vagad belt and the fertile Hadoti
plateau.
Although MPUAT is a regional state university,
its ICAR affiliation places it within India’s premier
national agricultural education network. Moreover,
since ICAR scholarship recipients from MPUAT can
pursue ICAR JRF for M.Sc at IARI New Delhi, NAARM
Hyderabad and other premier ICAR institutes, a strong
academic performance at MPUAT opens pathways to the
highest levels of Indian agricultural research and
education.

Eligibility Details
Admission to Maharana Pratap University of
Agriculture and Technology Udaipur’s B.Sc Agriculture
and related programmes follows a dual pathway — CUET
2026 for the national quota component and MPUAT’s own
entrance test for the Rajasthan state quota component.
Since MPUAT is one of Rajasthan’s most sought-after
agricultural universities — particularly for students
from southern and tribal Rajasthan — competition is
high for its limited undergraduate seats. Furthermore,
ICAR AIEEA (All India Entrance Examination for
Admission) scores are also considered for certain
categories. Consequently, candidates must prepare
for multiple entrance pathways.

MPUAT Udaipur — Student Reviews and Feedback
2025-26
5/5
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“MPUAT Udaipur is the finest
agricultural university in Rajasthan. The ICAR
pattern curriculum is comprehensive and the research
farms give genuine crop production experience. I
qualified ICAR JRF from MPUAT and am now pursuing
M.Sc at IARI New Delhi. Faculty include senior
ICAR scientists who provide exceptional research
guidance. Udaipur’s lake city environment makes
the 4-year B.Sc Agriculture experience uniquely
beautiful. MPUAT alumni network spans NABARD,
ICAR institutes, top agri companies and Rajasthan
government agriculture services.”

“MBA Agribusiness at MPUAT
is genuinely differentiated from regular MBAs because
of the agriculture technology context. Supply chain,
rural marketing and FPO management subjects are
practically taught. I got placed at ITC Agribusiness
with Rs 6.5 LPA package. Udaipur location gives
access to tribal Rajasthan agricultural ecosystems
for field study. NABARD and SBI Agriculture Officer
placement from MPUAT MBA batch was excellent —
3 students out of 12 cleared NABARD Grade A in
2025. Highly recommend for B.Sc Agriculture graduates
seeking management career.”

“B.Tech Food Technology at
MPUAT College of Technology and Engineering Udaipur
is a great programme. Food processing lab has
modern equipment. Rajasthan’s growing food processing
industrial park sector provided excellent industrial
training opportunities. Campus in Udaipur — near
the lakes — is absolutely beautiful. Faculty are
qualified and research-oriented. Placement with
Mother Dairy and Amul came through campus drive.
ICAR pattern curriculum is nationally recognised
and employers respect MPUAT degree quality.”

“MPUAT is a good agriculture
university but hostel infrastructure needs upgrading.
Some laboratory equipment is aging. However, the
ICAR recognition, NAAC accreditation and Rajasthan
College of Agriculture’s 60-year legacy make MPUAT
the most credible agriculture education in Rajasthan.
Faculty sincerity is generally good. For Rajasthan
students who want government agricultural services
or ICAR research careers, MPUAT Udaipur is the
definitive first choice.”

Udaipur, Rajasthan — Why Location Matters for
MPUAT Agriculture Students
Udaipur — often called the City of Lakes or the
Venice of the East — is one of India’s most
spectacularly beautiful cities, built around a series
of freshwater lakes in the Aravalli hill range of
southern Rajasthan. As the historical capital of the
Mewar kingdom that Maharana Pratap defended with such
celebrated determination, Udaipur carries extraordinary
cultural weight and historical significance. The city’s
Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar and Udai Sagar — along with
the iconic City Palace — create an environment of
unmatched aesthetic beauty for the four years of B.Sc
Agriculture study at MPUAT.
From an agricultural research perspective, Udaipur’s
location is equally significant. The Southern Rajasthan
region — encompassing Mewar, Vagad and parts of the
Malwa plateau — represents one of India’s most
agro-ecologically diverse zones. The Aravalli mountain
belt creates multiple micro-climates supporting tribal
agriculture in Banswara and Dungarpur districts, the
Banas river basin’s fertile agricultural land in Mewar
and the rain-fed dry-land farming systems of the
Hadoti plateau. Furthermore, the tribal communities
of southern Rajasthan — Bhils and Meenas — maintain
distinctive agricultural traditions that provide rich
ethnobotanical and traditional knowledge research
opportunities for MPUAT students.
